Clinical Support Group
The Clinical Support Group assist Prosthetists in selecting and fitting components by evaluating and providing technical clinical support for the hardware provided by Steeper. Click here to read the manual.
To achieve this the group provide clinical evidence to support the use of those products provided by Steeper, defining the most appropriate application of each and providing any other information that will help to ensure that the product is used correctly, safely and effectively.
Evidence is gathered by means of clinical evaluations. By using the manufacturer’s suggested application of the product, patients are selected and the product fitted and trialled for a period of time, generally as part of their ongoing prosthetic care. The comments of both patients and prosthetists at several stages in the trial are gathered regarding the effectiveness of the prosthetic product, any problems encountered, the perceived benefits or shortcomings in comparison with their current prosthesis and their general satisfaction with the product.
The clinical evaluations provide evidence that may result in dialogue with the manufacturer to achieve changes to the product, or which limits the suggested application of the product, or even results in it not being actively promoted. The group then produce a Clinical Evaluation Summary, with clear indications and contraindications for the use of the product providing additional information to allow Prosthetists to make much more informed choices.
The group are also available to offer technical product support in clinical situations to optimise Prosthetists working knowledge of our hardware and perfecting the fit for our patients. This work allows the Prosthetist to make much more informed prescription choices leading to more cost and clinically effective practice.
